I have discussed the relatively minor role of melody in music many times before, and listening to this illustrates the point as well. Here is “Happy Birthday” in the style of Chopin.
Please enjoy.
Incidentally, Edoardo Brotto, who is playing the piano, is a photographer born in 1990. He has also completed a master’s degree in piano performance and appears to be pursuing post-master’s studies. This recording is from 2014, and it seems that every year he sends her—his girlfriend, perhaps?—a birthday improvisation. How lovely.
As a nature photographer, he has been featured in the Daily Telegraph and National Geographic, and is reportedly one of the first photographers to capture the Milky Way in an arc.
His website is here. http://www.edoardobrotto.com
It is full of wonderful photographs. Please take a look.
