Japan's labor productivity ranks 19th in OECD

 On the 18th, the Socio-Economic Productivity Headquarters announced an international comparison of labor productivity in 2001. Japan's labor productivity (gross domestic product divided by the number of employed persons) was $5 (approximately 2408 million yen), ranking 786th among the 30 member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). This was an improvement from 19th place the previous year, but it was the lowest ranking among the seven developed countries for the fourth consecutive year.
