While digging through my file server, I found XNS Tecnical Specs version 1.0 (the July 9, 2002 edition), so I am posting it here.
If the XDI.org site were still operating, it would have been preferable to download it there. However, the site has been abandoned, so I am providing a location for it instead.
XNS later became XRI/XDI and was the technology at the core of the OpenID 2.0 specification. Today’s DID is also an extension of that lineage. I think it contains quite a few useful points of reference. Anyone talking about decentralized identity these days would do well to read this specification.
