Public comments regarding JIS X 9252 "Online Privacy Notice and Consent" have begun

JISX9252 (draft) is a JIS standard proposal based on ISO/IEC 29184 Online privacy notice and consent.1This document describes how to write a notice, often called a "privacy policy" in Japan, to inform individuals about the collection and use of their personal information, and how to obtain consent based on this notice if consent is used as the basis for processing. The sections on writing and posting notices should be used even if consent is not the basis for processing.

ISO/IEC 29184 was originally developed based on the guidelines of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (a document without "shall"), but the EDPB's opinion changed many "should" words to "shall" and strengthened the document. This time, it has been translated into Japanese and is on the way to being published as a JIS standard.

This standard took a long time to develop.2I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the committee members, and the Japanese Standards Association.
