On Friday, January 1th,ISO/IEC 29184 Online privacy notice and consentJIS version of "JIS X 9252:2023 Information Technology - Online Privacy Notice and ConsentWe would like to express our sincere gratitude to JIPDEC, which served as the secretariat for the JIS drafting committee, the professors who participated in the review, the METI staff, the JSA staff, the Information Technology Specialists of the Second Committee on Standardization of the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, who reviewed the submitted draft, and all other people involved who worked hard to make this happen.
JIS X 9252 is a standard written out on how to write notices regarding the handling of personal information, often referred to as privacy policies in Japan, and how to obtain consent when consent is used as the basis for processing. Originally a guideline from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, it was brought to ISO, and after international discussions including with the EDPB, it was standardized as an international standard, and then brought back to Japan and made into a JIS standard. "Notification" is necessary in any case, so it is no exaggeration to say that it is a standard that all businesses are involved in. I hope you will pick up a copy.
