T-Mobile US offers a service called PAYG that allows you to keep your phone number for $3 per month. This service is very useful because you need a US number for Google Hangouts and other services. However, this plan does not include any data. To use data communication, you need to purchase something called a Data Pass.
As of June 2018, 6, there are two types of Data Pass:1.
- 1GB 10 days validity US$XNUMX
- 500MB 1 day validity US$5
The 1GB plan allows high-speed data communication up to 1GB, and unlimited low-speed data communication after that. Moreover, it allows tethering, which is a very convenient option, but it cannot be purchased online. In the past, it was very difficult to get a call from the call center and talk to a person directly, but recently it has become possible to do so through an automated voice response.
Here's how to do it.
- From a T-Mobile phone 611 Call.
- You will be asked what you want to do, so answer "Add a data pass."
- You will be asked for your PIN, but if you don't know it, you can get through by answering "I don't know it."
- You will be presented with three options: (1) Unlimited Call and Text, (2) 1 Day Pass, and (3) 7 Day Data Pass. Press 3 on your keyboard.
- You will be asked to confirm, so answer "Yes".
- You'll then hear the sound of keys being pressed behind you and the procedure will be completed.
It's generally something like this.
Your Data Pass should be activated within a few minutes.
However, I'm sure Google Assistant will be able to use Google Duplex in the background to do this kind of thing, which would make it easier for foreigners to use.
