Get a SIM at CDG Terminal 2E!

If you fly with Japan Airlines (JAL), you will arrive at Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), the gateway to Paris. It is extremely easy to get a SIM card there.

When you go to the baggage claim area, you will see the SIM card sales area, as shown in the photo below.

So, this is what I got: Orange Holiday Europe.

Orange Holiday Europe costs 39 euros and includes 10GB of data, 120 minutes of calls and 1000 SMS, with no roaming charges within the EU.

For 39€, you get 10GB of data, 120 minutes of talk time, and 1000 SMS, which is more than enough.1You can use it for two weeks. If you want to use it for longer than that, you will need to register your passport or other documents. To register, you will need your passport number, phone number, and the SIM number written on the SIM card's backing, so be sure not to throw them away.

You will shortly receive an SMS with your phone number, and the phone number itself is also listed as the MSISDN on the back of the paper in the package.

Ideally, tethering should be possible, but for some reason I have not been successful. When I turn on tethering, I cannot connect to the Internet at all. It's strange. When I went to the Orange store to ask about it, it was crowded because there seemed to be a problem, so I gave up and didn't ask, so I'm not sure what the truth is...

  1. The package cannot be opened without scissors, so be sure to ask for them to insert it for you right away.
