API Days Paris is the flagship API Days event, and this will be its 5th edition. More than 1200 API practitioners and experts will gather from around the world. This time, it will take place on January 30 over 31 days at the Cité Internationale.

This year’s theme is “Sustainable Software for a Sustainable Business and Society.” In other words, how can we create software that is:

  1. High quality and usable over a long period
  2. Able to keep evolving
  3. Resilient
  4. Built with a long-term perspective
  5. Aligned with the requirements of business and society

Day 1 will examine the entire API lifecycle:

  • Digital transformation through API strategy, API monetization, and API management
  • API design, REST, GraphQL, API guidelines, and API versioning
  • API testing, API monitoring, and serverless
  • Microservice architecture and containers
  • API documentation, developer experience, and developer portals
  • API security, access-level management, OAuth, and OpenID Connect

On day 2, there will be industry-specific talks on the following topics:

  • Banking APIs and PSD 2
  • IoT and logistics APIs
  • Machine-learning APIs and chatbots
  • Civic APIs and Government 2.0
  • GDPR, user data, and privacy

As usual, I plan to speak about FAPI. Since it is about security, perhaps it will be on day 1…1 By then I may also be able to discuss the UK cutover on January 13…2 If you are in Europe, I hope to see you there.
