I went to see noon perform live at Cotton Club Tokyo.
I had not gone there specifically for her; I simply went to Cotton Club and happened upon her show, but it turned out to be an excellent choice.

The concert celebrated her new album, “Walk with Thee in New Orleans,” and more or less followed its track list. The album is backed by musicians from New Orleans, but the live performers were of course in Japan. Junpei Shinke and the others gave some exceptionally cool performances.

When you order a course meal at Cotton Club, senior sommelier Mr. Fukuchi serves wines matched to the food. The perfect wines, at exactly the right moments.
If you finish your wine before the dish is gone, he promptly tops it up. That service feels wonderful.

After the show there was an autograph session, and I bought the album there. I had not expected it, but I even got to shake her hand 🙂

This album is just too pleasant…. I put it on my iPod and listened to it constantly for a while.

It also captures the humid, mellow atmosphere of New Orleans beautifully.

Listening to it lifts my spirits.
