Unfortunately, with the Terminal included with Mac OS X, when I tried to use vi over SSH on Linux, the screen became misaligned and it was not usable. So I tried installing kterm under X11, but then Kotoeri would not work.
So I tried iTerm, which I was able to install with EasyPackage, introduced while installing kterm. (This is highly recommended; please install it.) It is an Aqua application and does not require X11. By default, the encoding is ASCII and text becomes garbled, but it can easily be changed to EUC and others from the settings icon. Moreover, Kotoeri works with it, and there is no problem using vi on Linux.
I think I will use this for a while.
It finally feels as though my environment is complete…
Oh, one more thing. Is there any graphics software as easy to use as Macromedia Fireworks? Seashore is not very good at handling text either.
