It has been a very long time since I used a Mac.
The first software I used after buying a MacBook was iPhoto, followed by Skype.
I was impressed that iPhoto makes it so easy to create wonderful slideshows.
It is also nice that it lets you create a cloth-bound photo book online.

On the other hand, the Windows version of Skype has a minor problem entering Japanese in chat, but the Mac version does not. However, conference-call services such as FreeConference, which work normally on Windows, do not seem to connect in the Mac version. This appears to require a little more investigation. It connects properly to conference-call services, too, so it is quite good.

iWork is extremely useful. At first, coming from a body so thoroughly poisoned by MS Office, I often found it confusing, but reading the manual a little made it click. Once you understand its philosophy of operation, the rest is nothing difficult. I was also surprised by how feature-rich it is. Yesterday I spent quite a while looking for image-editing software but could not find any; as it turns out, iWork seems able to do quite a lot. Beyond that, I would probably buy something like Photoshop LE.

MS Office for Mac is not Intel native, so it is a little slow. It is also expensive to buy.
So I tried installing ThinkFree Office, but it does not run at all. I can only wait for Intel support. I am considering installing X11 and then introducing OpenOffice. It is troublesome, so I have not done it yet.

Next comes installing Xcode 😀
