Livedoor is starting a hosted Wiki service. Although the Wiki was born 10 years ago, it has not penetrated the general public; they say that now is the chance for it to spread.

I also use wikis in my daily work. I first began using them while developing specifications at OASIS Open, but they have become an indispensable tool for this kind of collaborative work.

Wikis probably have not spread because changing one’s mindset is difficult. I have not tried Livedoor Wiki yet, but I am interested in how it overcomes that issue, and whether that will be enough for wikis to spread in the same way as blogs.
