I am appearing at the Digital Identity and Privacy Tech Forum 2024, hosted by PwC Japan Group, where I serve as an adviser. It will be available from March 11, 2024 (Monday) through April 30, 2024 (Tuesday). This online, on-demand forum provides several sessions explaining in detail the latest trends in digital identity and privacy technology, important areas of privacy protection accompanying digitalization.

  1. Digital ID Trust for Building Confidence in a Digital Society: The Future of Digital ID in Japan
  2. Technologies Supporting Digital Identity — Failed and Successful Solution Implementations
  3. The Forefront of Privacy Governance — What Companies Must Do Now to Promote Data Use
  4. Using Privacy Technology and Its Future Prospects

I appear in session 1, “Digital ID Trust for Building Confidence in a Digital Society: The Future of Digital ID in Japan,” led by Takehisa Shibata, Director at PwC Consulting LLC, who planned the session.

Session Participants

I was joined by:

These 3 participants were joined by Mr. Fujiyoshi of Forbes Japan as moderator.

The topics were:

  • “The Concept of Digital Identity”
  • “Global Standardization Trends in Digital ID Trust”
  • “Expectations of Japanese Government Stakeholders for the Identity Ecosystem”
  • “The Current State of Japanese Companies and Discussion of Future Use”
  • “Future Prospects”

We exchanged perspectives and opinions on these issues.

The recording took place in a studio whose walls and floor are made of LED panels1, giving me an excellent and entirely new experience2. With my recent decline in eyesight, I could not see the cue cards—or even the next topic—so I relied completely on improvisation. I hope you will watch and let me know what you think.

The titles of the other 3 sessions are also highly intriguing. I have not watched them yet, but I intend to make time to do so.
