In the world of digital identity, #DigitalIDWallets and #DecentralizedIdentity are hot topics right now. Their adoption in the EU is also a major development. In Japan, #web3 has become part of the national strategy, and proof-of-concept projects and other initiatives are being conducted under Trusted Web.

However, the terms “decentralized” and “centralized1” seem to be used without being properly understood. The narrative that “web1 is decentralized, web2 is centralized, and web3 is decentralized” is also steeped in myth.

In this edition of Identity Night Talk, we will therefore dispel those myths and reexamine the essence of the issue under the title “The Fallacy of Decentralization: Between A and Z, or a Cypherpunk Dream?”
