This is a report after the fact, but on 7/21 I hosted a Financial Data Exchange + OpenID Foundation workshop. It was, of course, held online.

The agenda was as follows.

Agenda:

  • Introductions – 5 min
  • Setting the Stage – Don Cardinal (Managing Director: Financial Data Exchange) & Nat Sakimura (Chairman of the OpenID Foundation) – 10 min
  • FDX initiatives and Roadmap – Dinesh Katyal (Director Product: Financial Data Exchange) – 10 min
  • OpenID Financial-Grade API Work Group Status – Torsten Lodderstedt – 10 min
  • Self Certification Demo – Joseph Heenan – 15 min
  • Open discussion – All; Moderated by Don Cardinal and Nat Sakimura – 30 min
  • Next steps – All; Moderated by Don Cardinal and Nat Sakimura – 10 min

I used the following slides for my opening remarks.

The things I learned at this workshop included the following.

  • OFX became FDX’s 1th working group.
  • FDX has adopted FAPI ver.1 Part 1 and, as it develops transaction APIs, will move toward adopting Part 2 or FAPI ver.2.

In response, FDX and OIDF will soon begin working together. I will report again once the details have been decided.
