Privacy Trust Framework and Utilization of Personal Data

Privacy Trust Frameworks and the Personal Data Utilization

The Personal Information Protection Act was revised for the first time in 12 years. The revised act clarified the definition of personal information by introducing the concept of personal identification code, but the handling of personal information according to the risk of privacy impact due to the nature of the personal information was postponed until revision in three years, except for sensitive personal information. On the other hand, when it comes to handling of personal information, it is not enough to only look at the Personal Information Protection Act, but it is also necessary to comply with other laws and regulations, and to take measures to "prevent flame wars". To do this, it is essential to ensure transparency and accountability regarding handling. The Privacy Trust Framework, which labels how information is handled according to risk, can be a help for this, and future efforts are expected.
