Has the Wheel Become Round?—The Maturity and Trends of Identity-Related Standards

The title on the ID&IT website is still provisional, but tomorrow at the ANA Hotel I will give a roughly 30-minute speech titled “Has the Wheel Become Round?—The Maturity and Trends of Identity-Related Standards.” The session number is GE-05. I will be appearing as the foreign talent, Nat Sakimura.

The presentation is based on material from the keynote slides for the Cloud Identity Summit that I independently obtained from Ian Glazer, who was Gartner’s identity analyst until March. Interweaving his views, my own views, and topics discussed over breakfast with Howard Schmidt, a former Special Assistant to the President of the United States for Cybersecurity, I will introduce the state of international standards for authentication, authorization, attributes, and provisioning, while also considering whether they are usable today.

Since I am appearing as foreign talent, I requested simultaneous interpretation, but with budgets tight, that was not approved, so I will deliver it in Japanese with one-person simultaneous interpretation, lol. Yes, that makes me less “foreign talent” than “hapless talent.” Even so, I will boldly begin with the first slide in English, so please give me a lukewarm laugh (_o_).
