It takes a full 3 hours to go around Shuri Castle. Shuri Castle was founded in the 1400s, but was almost completely destroyed in World War II and has only recently been rebuilt. The destruction of such a wonderful World Heritage site in war makes one deeply consider human folly. Reconstruction is still gradually proceeding.

The South Hall of Shuri Castle is a museum displaying valuable materials that recall the period. The splendor of the main hall strongly conveys a culture different from that of Japan. The North Hall was the site of the Okinawa Summit banquet, and it is a little regrettable that it is now a shop.

After seeing Shuri Castle, walk through the rows of deigo trees below the castle and visit Tamaudun. Until I went there, I did not know about the custom of washing bones.
