The final version of OpenID for Verifiable Presentations 1.0 (https://openid.net/specs/openid-4-verifiable-presentations-1_0-final.html), a standard that will be used in connection with the European Digital Identity Wallet, has been published. This specification defines a mechanism on top of OAuth 2.0 [RFC6749] for requesting and delivering presentations of credentials. Credentials and presentations can be in any format, including, but not limited to, the W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Model, ISO mdoc [ISO.18013-5], and IETF SD-JWT VC. This is an output of the OpenID DCP Working Group.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the co-chairs,

  • Kristina Yasuda (SPRIND)
  • Torsten Lodderstedt (SPRIND)
  • Joseph Heenan (Authlete)

The same WG continues to work at a rapid pace toward publishing OpenID for Verifiable Credential Issuance 1.0. Work on ver.1.1 is also expected in order to incorporate items that have already been deferred.
