The main presentation starts at 06:18. Beginning with a discussion of the future and hope, I explain the essence of the Industrial Revolution and the background to the establishment of the British Empire; the implications we can draw from that for the 4th Industrial Revolution; the emergence of the Cyber Continent—the Eighth Continent—and its partition by the great powers (#GAFAM), including the Papal State of Apple, the Kingdom of Facebook, the Republic of Google, and the People’s Republic of WeChat; the EU’s view of economic growth through #DFFT; the significance of #eID, #trustservices, and #eIDAS; and the choice between the easy path of avoiding a fight—the #西用 approach—which leads to colonization and poverty, and a hopeful future achieved through #変法.
Although the speech is from 3 years ago, I do not think it has become dated at all. On the contrary, now that decentralization is being discussed in the context of #web3, and also from the perspective of DFFT, which was on this year’s G7 agenda, this is a speech I very much hope you will revisit and reflect on carefully.
