On the evening of the 14th, the formation of the OpenWallet Foundation was announced at the Open Source Summit in Dublin. The OpenWallet Foundation is a project to create an open-source wallet 1 engine compliant with standard protocols. It is an open-source project and will not develop standards. If new standards are needed, it will take them to other standards-development organizations for standardization.

The Linux Foundation’s press release is available here. 2 However, those appearing here 3 and providing statements of support represent only a small portion of the participants. More will gradually become clear. I can also report that Mastercard and Microsoft, which are not listed here, participated in the panel discussion. This is certainly a development to watch.
