CNT-0012173-01Thank you very much for all your support during the past year.

In 2015, almost as though marking my 50th birthday, a succession of standards on which I had worked for several years were published: JWS [RFC7515], JWT [RFC7519], OAuth PKCE [RFC7636], and JWK Thumbprint [RFC7638]. Work also began on adopting the ISO/IEC 29100 Privacy Framework as a JIS standard and on developing the Notice and Consent Guidelines into an International Standard. It was an eventful year in many other ways as well. I appeared at the first OpenID Summit in 4 years, IT&ID, and various other events; had the honor of being the last-listed contributor among a distinguished group of authors to the book “My Number: Opening the Future (Chuokeizai-sha)” [5]; and co-authored a paper on assurance levels in identity management [6].

This year, with foundational components including RFC 7515 now complete, I plan to shift somewhat more of my attention toward the FinTech work I originally intended to pursue. At ISO/IEC, in addition to chairing Japan’s SC 27/WG 5, I intend to coordinate the international “Privacy-Aware Attribute-Based Identity Management SP,” prepare the initial draft of its requirements, and advance the Notice and Consent Guidelines as an editor. This year also brings the first OECD/CDEP ministerial meeting in 8 years, and I hope to contribute in whatever small way I can as a member of OECD/ITAC.

I may cause various inconveniences, but I sincerely ask for your continued support this year. May the year ahead bring great happiness to you all.
