The “Botchan Train” is a means of transport connecting central Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture with Dogo Onsen.
It is a matchbox-like streetcar built to the same size as the original. It was once a steam locomotive, but now seems to be diesel-powered.
The conductor stands by the door and checks inside. The journey takes only a little more than 15 minutes. Botchan, Red Shirt, and Natsume Soseki also used this train to travel to Dogo Onsen. Time passes leisurely.
