On 5, XenSource released the latest version of its open-source infrastructure virtualization software, “Xen 3.0.”
On the same day, the company also announced XenOptimizer, an application that supports virtualization management in enterprise data centers, and released a beta version. The production version is scheduled for release in early 2006.
Xen 3.0 is scheduled to be included and distributed with the enterprise Linux distributions Red Hat Enterprise Linux from Red Hat and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell, as well as Solaris 10 from Sun Microsystems. It will offer the option of using an open-source virtualization tool as an alternative to proprietary virtualization tools such as VMware.

According to the article, the overhead of virtualization also appears to be low, at 1% or less, so might it be ideal for operating multiple sites? With a home server, it should be possible to create a test environment on a virtual host and then release it to the production side.
However, it supports RHEL and SUSE. I had considered using SuSE, but since we currently use Debian, I will not be using it right away.
