Well, it is only natural.

That patent was far too awful, no matter how you look at it.
It is a very good thing that it was invalidated.

More striking, though, was the reference to “the Grand Panel of the Intellectual Property High Court, which handles patent litigation and the like from across the country (Chief Judge: Katsumi Shinohara).” My reaction was, I did not know such a place existed. Under the revised Patent Act, courts can determine whether patents are valid or invalid. This is the place that does that. (Incidentally, this was its first judgment.)

Seeing that a body like this can be established makes me think Japan may not yet be entirely beyond hope.
