When Cinnamon-chan appeared in Haru @ Chanoaru’s diary, I looked into who he was and came across Randy Taguchi’s page. There, she and her daughter were debating whether Cinnamon-chan was a dog or a rabbit, and whether he was a boy or a girl.

It says:

His name comes from his tail, which curls up like a cinnamon roll.
There seems to have been no room for debate. But children probably would not be convinced.
