I operate about 7 sites using Xoops. This site, www.sakimura.org, is one of them. But I cannot say that I truly love Xoops. The things I dislike about it are as follows.

(1) It uses tables for layout, so the design is not sophisticated.
(2) It uses Smarty.
(3) Processing is heavy. I considered using it for go相談.com, which I also operate,
but gave up because of performance.
(4) The code is complicated: let’s make it simpler…
(5) The authentication system is not independent.

In Drupal, at least (1) and (5) have been resolved. Moreover, XRI-based authentication will appear soon. That may be why I feel very blue today for no apparent reason. As Vice Chairman of XDIORG, the organization promoting XRI, surely I have to move to Drupal. Yet my own site uses Xoops. The prospect of migrating is depressing. I cannot face the people I met through Xoops either. Aaaaaah.

I wish Xoops would clean itself up soon.
