On the 15th, at 7:20 a.m. Japan time, XRI (eXtensive Resource Identifier) was approved as an OASIS Open Committee Draft. After a public review period of 30 days, a vote will be held on whether to make it an OASIS Standard.
XRI is an international standard for identifiers, or Digital Identities, that uniformly identify “entities” on the Internet. Committee members including Visa International and AMD in the United States and Nomura Research Institute in Japan have worked on it. Its distinguishing features include persistent and temporary identifiers and a P2P-like architecture that does not require a central directory.
