While turning the shelves upside down during a major clean-up, I found a video from 1991. It was a Hi-8 video. When I watched it for the first time in a while, the tape had deteriorated considerably. So I decided that converting it to DVD would be this year’s project.

There are 2 ways to convert it to DVD: using a PC, or using the HDD recorder I bought recently. I tried both, but perhaps because the PC’s CPU is only 1.7 GHz, the work does not go smoothly. It does offer freedom in editing, such as adding transitions and titles. However, with a long video, audio drift inevitably occurs. This apparently stems from MPEG frames being in units of about 0.4 seconds.

By contrast, the HDD recorder can do less, but the work goes smoothly. For now, I plan to go as far as I can with the HDD recorder.
