It is not at all unusual for the Chuo Line to stop :hammer:, but it is unusual for it to stop because of a landslide. Apparently, earth flowed onto the tracks between Ochanomizu and Yotsuya, covering about 10 m of track.
Chuo Line rapid trains had suspended service between Tokyo and Shinjuku from around 9 p.m. 5:57 because earth had flowed onto the tracks between Ochanomizu and Yotsuya, but service resumed at 10:51 p.m.
Meanwhile, at Azabu-juban, water entered from the entrance and flooded the tracks, also causing a temporary suspension of service.
Even in weather like this, people seem to go out. At a Ginza department store, someone said, “I should have stayed home…” Television had been telling people to avoid going out since last night, yet people do not listen after all. Come to think of it, the mother of one of my daughter’s friends called around 5 to say that she was about to go out to buy ingredients for tomorrow’s sports-day lunch.
