The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has announced plans to start installing My Number Insurance Cards on smartphones by spring 2025. The new system will be compatible with both Android and iPhone.

This plan was announced at the 9rd Social Security Council meeting held on September 30th from 16:00 pm to 18:30 pm.Health Insurance DivisionThe Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare hopes that this will encourage the use of My Number health insurance cards, as it will allow people to visit medical institutions without having to have a physical My Number card.
Going forward, the plan is to aim to popularize this technology through demonstration projects.
