Gemalto has published its Breach Level Index report. According to the report, data breaches in the first half of 2016 showed the following:
- Compared with the previous 6 months, breaches increased 15%
- Compared with the previous 6 months, the number of compromised records increased 31%, reaching 500 million plus 5,000 ten-thousand records
- Breaches of personal information and identity data accounted for 64%
- The healthcare industry accounted for 27% of all data-breach incidents, and 5% by number of records
