Public comments are being invited on the “Draft Ministerial Ordinance Concerning Notification Cards and Individual Number Cards, and the Provision of Specific Personal Information Through the Information Provision Network System (provisional title)”[1][2]. The deadline is October 22, 2014.
The subjects covered under the My Number Act include the format and reissuance procedures for notification cards; the format, validity period, and reissuance procedures for Individual Number Cards; and the methods, transmitted items, and recorded items involved in providing specific personal information through the Information Provision Network System.
For example, the notification card format is as follows.

I wish they would make this digitally readable… Even with OCR, uncommon characters and characters with similar shapes can be misread. It would be good if they included the information in a digitally signed QR code… That would also make tampering detectable…
