At the recommendation of twitter.com/tkudos, I started using Postbox and thought it was quite good, but then the [TRYCREATE] error appeared and it stopped receiving new messages.
After looking into various possibilities, it seemed to be related to Trash, so I resolved it as follows.
1. Tools/Account Settings…
2. Mailbox name/Server Settings
3. Change When I delete a message: to Just mark it as deleted
4. OK
5. Restart Postbox
6. Under Tools/Account Settings…/Mailbox name/Server Settings/When I delete…, select Move it to this folder: Trash
7. OK
