In the end, my headache has not gone away. This is the pattern of a headache continuing for 1 week again.
Today I was again helping with a performance at Tama Tech. After the performance, when I went into the bath, the sun was just setting. The colors were unusually vivid.
When I moved to the café, the edge of the mountains at twilight was glowing pale yellow.
Below us was a withered forest. From here, it looked less like a forest than an open field.
Standing alone in a withered field at twilight,
How many years do I think remain?
My uncle died at an age 1 year older than the age I will reach this year, and my father at an age 14 years older.
How many more times will I be able to see the twilight of the New Year?

While waiting, I became thoroughly chilled, so I went into the bath once more. After warming myself and coming out, I rejoined the others. We went to the café terrace again, and I ordered a cream soda, a food I had longed for as a child. Was this what it tasted like? When you try it as an adult, it is something entirely different. Perhaps that is what becoming an adult means.
On the way home, at Mansei, my daughters ate shabu-shabu and the adults ate sukiyaki. My hair had taken on the smell of meat, so I took another bath.
Today is a day of many baths.
