Market research among guests found that 92% wanted non-smoking rooms. The company reportedly decided to go completely smoke-free because providing a smoke-free environment would meet guest demand.
This is the first time that a major hotel chain anywhere in the United States has gone completely smoke-free. If guests smoke outside designated areas, a surcharge of 200 dollars, approximately 20,000 yen plus ¥4,000, will be added at payment.
