Light-Transmitting Concrete

I found an interesting material: concrete that transmits light. “Light-transmitting concrete” may sound baffling, but it is actually made by embedding numerous optical fibers oriented in the direction in which the light is to pass. In principle, therefore, light can be transmitted even through concrete about 20 meters thick. In terms of strength, it is apparently no different from ordinary concrete. It seems like a material that could be used in all sorts of enjoyable ways.
