The 3rd Digital Identity World opened in Denver, Colorado. The first day featured tutorials by the Trusted Computing Group and other events.
On the same day, the Early Registration Program for XRI, an OASIS Digital Identity standard, also began. XRI is a community-based, open digital ID standard that remains fully independent of corporations such as Microsoft and Sun Microsystems. To maintain that independence, it also relies on the community for funding. Those interested can register at http://2idi.org/ .
Because I arrived in the evening, I attended only the reception, but I was able to meet—or rather, drink with—many prominent figures in the Digital Identity world, including AMD’s Geoffrey Strongin, a director of both the Trusted Computing Group and XDI.ORG; Owen Davis of Identity Commons; and Drummond Reed of Cordance. (And I am the vice-chairman of XDI.ORG….)
Japanese-language services are still some way off, but I encourage anyone interested to register.
