Thanks to the work of Hiro and document by Fujita-san, that I now can
exchange mail with NIFTY without problem.

So, I fall back in English again. In fact, Junko is writing Japanese
mails to her father everyday, and we are considering of changing it to
make it a little more objective, so that we can distribute it more
widely. In the end, you may end up with receiving 2 letters: English &
Japanese.

MIDI

I would like to take a poll on the format which we should use to convert
MIDI file into ascii so that we can transmit it by mail. There are 2
main options:

1) BinHex 4.0 – vertual standard in Mac. Not sure whether it exists in
UNIX and PC
2) UUENCODE – vertually supported on every platform. Not as stable as
BinHex 4.0 on Mac.

By the way, do you have any access on MIDI over UNIX > Hiro.

I was interested on this one. Junko was especially interested on the
“funky” arrangements of the children’s music. She herself is also doing
some arrangements on children’s music, using EZVision.

Incidentally, I also made an arrangement of “douyou.” It is based on
“Genkotsu-yama no Tanuki-san.” It can be better described as
“Genkotsu-yama no Tategoto (La Follia).”

By the way, when I read “Konshuu no douyou” for the first time, I mis-
read it as “Konshuu no Dohyou” and thought that it should do something
with Sumo :-P)

As to this topic is concerned, I’m not sure …

But, London Ontario certainly is in the Christmas season. Christmas
shopping sale is at the peak now. Every shopping mall has Christmas
decorations, and of course, Sanata Claus to take a photo with him!

There was a very active thread called “Who started all these Gaijin
myth?” in soc.culture.japan news group recently. A parson called Mr.
Masuda started the thread saying “Why so many people consider gaijin as a
derogatory term?” Three or four persons (both Japanese and American)
including me went supporting “Gaijin is not a derogatory term” and a few
people including a Japanese went supporting “Gaijin is a derogatory
term.” I seemed to have flared the argument a bit, then in the end,
shut up the argument. If you have an access to soc.culture.japan, take a
look at it. If you want, I can send you the abstracts, too.

Well, I said that I will write about Marx on this issue, but I am sort of
run out of time (partly because of the Gaijin thread.) I hope to write it
in the next issue.
