This song was written by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem “Minuit, chrétiens” (Midnight, Christians) by wine merchant and poet Placide Cappeau (1808–1877). The original French and English versions of the song both deal with the birth of Jesus and the salvation of mankind. In Japan, it is known as Hymns Vol. 219, No. XNUMX.

The stars twinkle brightly,
His Son, Jesus, was born.
Following a long and dark path
A new morning has come to the people who wait for the Messiah.
The sun rises.
Come, listen, the angel sings
The eternal song of heaven,
Happiness and peace.
